Hey guys,

as I'm sure you have noticed, spam is finding it's way onto the lounge more often these days, the latest being added with porn picks and plenty of swear words.
Is there something that can be done about this?
Can certain words be targeted that would stop someone putting a post up?  ie: posts containing swear words automatically removed.
Is it possible to add the feature where we have to type in a code each time we post?

I just don't want to see our lounge full of garbage.

Allan and I are in the process of trying to figure out how to stop it.

The latests ones have been pretty full on.  We just can't let it continue anymore.

We already have the coded registration to stop bots logging in (which used to waste heaps of my time a year ago).  I thought it would hold them off, but for some reason they target any threads with web oriented material.  I would hate to have to remove these threads all together as they are very entertaining, but it might be the only way in the end.  Hopefully not.

I also hope we don't have to go down the path of entering a code every time we post.  Visual word id's have been used for a while, lets see what we can do.

Hopefully we can solve it soon.

Is it the software we use for the forum that is the problem Pete?

Other forums don't seem to have this problem at all, or from what I have seen they did in the past for a very brief time before making the required changes. Entering codes not required either.

Many forums don't let guests post, which generally fixes the problem.

I'll see what can be found, there are a few options.
